Volunteer Opportunities

The Frugal Environmentalist is working on becoming a non-profit organization, and is looking for volunteers who have some experience with starting, assisting, or running a non-profit.

Donate your time and experience to help us continue to expand our environmental education work!

We are especially looking for volunteers with the following professional backgrounds: accountant, lawyer, fundraiser, and grant writer. This is not an exhaustive list. If you think you can be of help, send us an email or call 206-523-6310.

If you live in Brattleboro, VT and would like to volunteer at the 2005 Better World Film Festival, let us know.

If you want to organize the Better World Film Festival in your community, we'd like to hear from you.

Internship Opportunities

The Frugal Environmentalist has the following internships available in Seattle:

Editorial Assistant

The Editorial Intern will focus on internet research related to The Frugal Environmentalist. The research will be quite varied, including: 1) providing research assistance for articles to be published in The Frugal Environmentalist; 2) compiling lists of press contacts to help us promote our publication; 3) researching potential distributors to help us increase our availability in independent bookstores nationwide. The Editorial Intern will also assist with proofreading articles, press releases, and flyers.

This is a great opportunity to learn about the publishing world from a small but rapidly growing organization, and to gain valuable training in research, publicity and editing. The skills learned during this internship will be invaluable for anyone desiring a career in publishing.

Skills we are looking for: Excellent grammar/spelling. Internet and library savvy. Organized. Dependable. Interest in environmental issues is a plus, but not required.

Application Process: Please submit a Resume (include relevant coursework and extracurriculars), Cover Letter (tell us why you're interested in this internship, what you hope to get out of it, and what your future goals are), and Two Writing Samples (preferably one that is not academic, but if academic is all you can provide, that's OK). All materials should be submitted as MS Word attachments and sent to: info@frugalgreen.com.

Internship Details: This is an unpaid internship. Interns may begin any time. We are flexible about the number of hours worked. Interns may work 5-15 hours/week for one or two quarters.

For more information, contact: Lisa Farino at info@frugalgreen.com or 206-523-6310.
